It seems weird to hear BJ the Chicago Kid harmonizing over a Slum Village track but if it yields joints this smooth as “Expressive,” it’s about to be ton of February babies in 2016. The suave jazz bassline and world class crooning on the cut put the Slum boys squarely back on the map for BBQ season. The video is super basic but works incredibly well to keep the focus on the perfectly melancholy vibes on the track.
With the new LP Yes dropping June 16th and produced by Jay Dilla, the Internet is sure to light on fire shortly with its release. Tack on a few more records like this and the 313 vibes will be echoing over the smoky scent of ribs and hamburgers for months to come. Pay respect to some legends and pre-order today on iTunes.
