‘Star Wars’ Stormtrooper Gets Arrested For His Fake Blaster And Making Poor Decisions

Before we begin, I just want to say that I feel bad for the gentleman in this story, whose name I won’t use. All he’s really guilty of here is making one poor decision. That said, well, it’s a really poor decision.

A cosplayer in Lynn, Mass. had recently gotten his stormtrooper outfit and decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. It was a great costume, actually, and came complete with the blaster. So, he decided the kids at a local elementary school would get a kick out of seeing a Star Wars stormtrooper hanging around as they got out of class.

So, yeah, somebody was standing in front of a school, holding what looks like a gun, right as the students are about to leave. After several calls from people who clearly need both a sense of humor and to visit Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, the police showed up and arrested the cosplayer in question for loitering in a school zone and “disrupting a school assembly.” On a related note, apparently disrupting a school assembly is a crime in Massachusetts, and I want to know how that law got passed. Did somebody heckle a D.A.R.E. presentation or something?

Hopefully the charges are dropped; the cosplayer in question meant no harm, after all, and is really only guilty of making a bad spur-of-the-moment decision. Also, maybe the good people of Lynn could brush up on their Star Wars.
