A Teacher Was Recorded Telling This Student She Was The ‘Dumbest Girl He’d Ever Met In 37 Years’

Sometimes students do bad things, get bad grades, fail and then blame it all on the teacher. “But Mr. Richards hates me, mom!” Other times, teachers really are the monsters students say they are. Take this Greene County, Georgia, teacher who told one of his students that she wasn’t good for anything except sex and babies.

Shaniyah Hunter had an exam last December that she needed a little help with since an eye condition keeps her out of school sometimes. The Greene County High School junior tried to get some assistance from her teacher, but instead of help, all Hunter received were demeaning and sexist insults. But the semi-good news here is that Hunter caught the disrespect on her school-issued iPad.

“You have to be the dumbest girl I’ve ever met in my life, and I have been around for 37 years. And clearly, you are the dumbest girl I have ever met,” Hunter taped the teacher telling her while recording a lesson.

And the insults get worst, with the teacher telling Hunter to aim for having babies because she was “never gon’ be smart.”

“You know what your purpose is going to be? To have sex and to have children because you ain’t never gon’ be smart. [Students disagree] I don’t care. What? She’ll be a good housewife. Code of domesticity, right here. Then she can’t see. She can’t work an iPad. You need to get married so you can get your last name changed.”

Hunter says her teacher’s insults were painful, tearfully telling WSB-TV, “It really hurt me inside.” The family contacted a lawyer after the school district failed to discipline the teacher in way satisfactory to the Hunters’ wishes. When the local news station asked the district if they took any steps to discipline the teacher, they were told, “Federal and state law place substantial limits on what a school district can publicly say.” Of course!
