Should This Teacher Have Lost Her Job For Her Spring Break Activities?

This “clean” CNN video (we have a saucier one at the bottom of this post) turned into a whole heap of trouble for one elementary school teacher. A woman known only as “Miss Clarissa” was pressured into resigning her job after angry parents discovered footage of her twerking on spring break. She, uh, got a little excited in Cabo San Lucas. That enthusiasm turned into a bikini dance onstage, which doesn’t measure up to the technical standards of twerking, but she got damn close. In the process, Clarissa shoved her tush and cleavage into a judge’s face. He did not seem to mind.

Well, the video landed on social media and went viral before Clarissa even returned from spring break. Suddenly, her private downtime took a nasty turn at the Cumbre del Noroeste Institute, a private school that was not amused. Several parents lodged complaints against the twerking teacher, who hopes her school will eventually “get with the 21st century.” Ironically, this century’s readily available camera phones are what propelled Clarissa into unwanted fame. The now-disgraced teacher insists that any viral effects were unintentional, and as she points out, no one got hurt, and no one was naked. Clarissa continued to defend her actions:

“I was branded immoral. They didn’t give me any other option at my school than to resign. I felt I was being attacked and put under pressure. I didn’t know what else to do apart from leave as quickly as I could. I’m a human being like everyone else and at time people believe your profession defines you and you don’t have a life outside of your job, that you don’t have friends or family or free time. We’re not all saints and you can’t judge a person and question their reputation and their job over something like this.”

Meanwhile, the club’s organizers say Clarissa should have assumed the risk of knowing her dance would end up online. Here’s the “grindier” version of her twerk video. Let’s hope she won an amazing prize for this dance.
