The CEO Of Levi Strauss Wants You To Stop Washing Your Blue Jeans

Good news for dirt creeps and lazy people everywhere, Levi Strauss CEO Chip Bergh wants you to stop washing your jeans. Not forever, but just not as much. The leader of the jean giant sat down with Fortune magazine and chiseled out his beliefs of how the jean wearing population should treat their pants. From Fox 12:

“These are one of my favorite jeans. These jeans are maybe a year old and these have yet to see a washing machine. I know that sounds totally disgusting. I know it does. But believe me, you can spot clean it, you can air dry it and it is fine. I have yet to get a skin disease or anything else. It works,” Bergh said.

Berg said Levi’s is trying to be the ultimate in “slow fashion.” That means long-wear fashion.

Can you really blame him? I mean think of all the memories attached to those jeans. All the farts and smells that are melded into the stitching are pieces of his life experiences. Remember that wild weekend in Mexico? The ass of his Levi’s sure do.

But some out there are against the idea of letting a pair of jeans marinate in their daily juices and odors. What do these clueless souls have to say about it?

“I think that is disgusting. I would say I do go a couple days without washing them, so I wouldn’t wash every time I wear them. But I think you should wash your clothes for sure,” Kansas City resident Jackie Kelly said. (via)

You disgust me, Jackie. You don’t deserve to wear a pair of blue jeans! There are people in Russia who would kill for just a slice of denim to sniff before bed.

The full Fortune interview is embedded below. When he actually says the words “slow fashion,” I say reply with a super slow fart noise.
