The Many Faces Of Harrison Ford Face

You know that face Harrison Ford makes — THAT HARRISON FORD FACE — where he somehow simultaneously looks dopey and heroic and constipated? You know, it’s of a kind of slack-jawed mental patient not-at-all leading man face? You know the one. I feel like it’s haunted me throughout my life. Why does he make it all the time? Does he know he’s making it? Are directors cool with it? Does he just get a pass because he was Han Solo? So. Many. Questions.

That face is kind of Harrison Ford in a microcosm. The guy is Indiana Jones and a nostalgic part of me worships him yet he always comes off as super weird or a prick or a grown man with an earring in real life. Somewhere recently though — thanks either to dementia or just not giving a sh*t anymore — the guy became embraceable again, showing up stoned and lovably incoherent on Letterman, then doing a Star Wars sketch on Kimmel that includes an Air Force One 2 joke and calling Daniel Craig his wookie b*tch. Cowboys & Aliens could suck out loud but it was worth making just because it made that line possible. Video after the jump.

All this got me thinking about Harrison Ford Face again. It suddenly seems quirky and ironic and doesn’t feel like the reason I could never take Witness seriously. And for that we now have “The Many Faces of Harrison Ford Face”.
