The Navy Now Has A Giant Laser Cannon. Repeat, A Giant Laser Cannon.

WARNING: Do not direct giant laser cannon towards eyes.

The Navy has always seemed like the lamest branch of the military to me. I mean, come on, boats? I don’t know about you, but I don’t find boats terribly exciting. Until now that is!

The Navy is now the raddest branch of the military in a walk, because they have boats with giant functional laser guns on them.  I mean, yeah, the Air Force has talked about doing laser guns too, but the Navy has actually done it, and they have video proof! No, really! Hit the jump to check it out…

Hoooly crap guys. Yup, you just saw that — they just blew up that drone with a laser. A moment of silence for the monkey pilot.

This new Laser Weapon System will enter active service in 2014 when it’s loaded on the USS Ponce and sent to the Middle East to make the Iranians sweat. I don’t say this often, being Canadian and all, but America, f–k yeah.
