Now that we’re entering 2015 prom season, I’m seeing this business about prom proposals, or “promposals,” as they’re apparently referred to. I’m old and have no idea how long this has been a thing, but this is what happens when you give kids participation awards. You can’t just assume that you’ll be going to the prom with your boyfriend or girlfriend anymore. You now need to be asked in the most theatrical way possible.
Like this high school couple, getting back to the subject at hand. In this above video, a young man named Daniel, who assures us that he’s 18 despite the fact that he looks 30, picked up his girlfriend Alex and planted signs along the roadside that said “Alex. Will. You. Marry. LOL Jk. Go To. Prom. With Me.”
Unfortunately, Alex didn’t see the first sign with her name on it and thought the whole thing was totally lame. This is Alex’s face when she realizes that she just took a steaming dump on her boyfriend’s promposal:
I guess if failed promposals can at the very least provide us with this vital entertainment, then I’ll begrudgingly concede that they can continue being a thing.
