The internet is fueled by Anna Kendrick’s tweets and cats, but every now and then a few dogs sneak in. Such is the case of Eclipse, a Labrador retriever who uses Seattle public transportation all by herself. Most of the time.

“All the bus drivers know her. She sits here just like a person does,” said commuter Tiona Rainwater, as she rode the bus through downtown Monday. “She makes everybody happy. How could you not love this thing?” (Via KOMO News)

The dog’s routine caught the attention of bus drivers, commuters, and city personalities alike. Of course, none of them made any inquiries and seemingly assumed the dog was the first of a new breed of canine overlords from Portlandia. Thankfully, that’s not the case.

“We get separated. She gets on the bus without me, and I catch up with her at the dog park,” said Jeff Young, who owns the dog. “It’s not hard to get on. She gets on in front of her house and she gets off at the dog park, three or four stops later.”

Young said the tradition has been going on for a while.

“She’s been here the last two years, so she’s been urbanized, totally. She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog,” he said. “Probably once a week I get a phone call. ‘Hi. I have your dog Eclipse here on 3rd and Bell,'” he recounted. “I have to tell them, ‘no. She’s fine.’ She knows what she’s doing.” (Via KOMO News)

KOMO News did their journalistic duty and dug up the details on Eclipse, who isn’t always by herself on the bus. However, they still lose points for introducing the bit with the line, “It’s a ‘ruff’ life…”
