So Tottenham Hotspur Sold Clint Dempsey To MLS and Allowed Jason Sudeikis to Be A Coach

Two tiny, tiny bits of news that concern English Premier League soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

The first, which American fans should note, is the club’s dealing of U.S. National Team forward Clint Dempsey to Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders. ESPNFC broke the story this morning that the well-supported Seattle team had purchased Dempsey for $9 million, which sees the Texas soccer player return to the States after one year at Spurs.

Dempsey did have 12 goals last year for Spurs–which is pretty good–but SB Nation notes that he also experienced his own struggles with the club, not to mention a summer transfer splurge on players effectively pushed Dempsey out of Andres Villas-Boas’ 2013-2014 plans.

But this could be a blessing for Dempsey: MLS means consistent playing time (which he needs to factor into a potential U.S. World Cup squad next year) and a f*cking rad Seattle crowd that frequently packs 40,000+ into CenturyLink Field.

Dempsey leaves England with 72 total goals, 60 of which he scored for Fulham. SI.com reported that Dempsey will be officially unveiled on Monday.

And that other bit of news?

In teasing the upcoming EPL season, NBC Sports had former SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis channel his inner Nick Saban and “attempt” to bring an American football coaching style to Tottenham. Watch the full spoof clip below, and, for the love of God, 3/4 pants ARE NOT WOMEN’S PANTS.
