Watch A U.S. Senator Get Laughed At When His ‘Frozen’ Ringtone Interrupts A Public Hearing

Senate hearings are generally pretty boring. Anyone who has ever watched CSPAN knows this, and most people would never watch CSPAN on purpose unless their tried-and-true methods of sleep aids were unavailable. But every once in a while, United States Senators remind us all that they’re actually humans with feelings and lives… and fans of Frozen. That’s what happened to Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kansas) during a hearing on U.S. tariff policy, which sounds just enthralling. When his phone went off, sounding the very familiar melody of “Let It Go,” he probably just woke up everyone in the room up.

Sen. Roberts was visibly embarrassed, but the whole crowd just laughed it off because, how do you not laugh when you’re in a waking coma, and a 78-year-old man’s phone is singing an Idina Menzel song from a movie with a talking snowman? (Note: Roberts is a grandfather to five children, so I’m guessing they have some passing familiarity with Frozen.) This is probably the cutest thing to come out of the Senate since Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont) let his Bat-flag fly when Ben Affleck testified.

The Senate is full of nerds, man. Let’s remember that whenever they do stupid sh*t.
