I knew that Benedict Cumberbatch was a talented actor and I knew that he was a brilliant detective thanks to that wonderful documentary series that airs on PBS sometimes, but I had no idea that he was also a Frank Caliendo-esque master of impressions.
In the above video, Cumberbatch is asked to do 11 impressions over the course of a minute by MTV’s Josh Horowitz as a part of an “immitation game” to promote his film, The Immitation Game. Some of the impressions sound pretty spot on like Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, and Alan Rickman. Others, while less technically impressive, still capture the spirit of the person like the marriage of noise and movement that is Cumberbatch’s Matthew McConaughey impression and his Pulp Fiction era Christopher Walken.
