Neil deGrasse Tyson Predictably Pissed Off People With His Christmas Tweets

Christmas wouldn’t be a major social media event without a few troll-inducing tweets from Neil deGrasse Tyson, your friendly neighborhood astrophysicist. According to the New York Daily News, Tyson published a few tweets to mark the end of the spend-happy holidays.

You’re reading this website, so you know better than most statements like this generally awaken internet trolls from the nether regions. (Hell, you’re probably one of them.) Like all good trolls, they took issue with Tyson’s alleged historical inaccuracies as much as his religious jabs.

Some also took issue with Tyson’s grasp of history, claiming that Isaac Newton was actually born on January 4, 1643. However, some countries used different calendars during that era, and Newton’s birthdate is open for debate. Many have questioned the birthdate of Jesus Christ as well.

Isn’t history fun? As for the typical taunting of the religiously inclined, Tyson’s Twitter play was inclusive of more than just woe-is-me Christians. He took pot shots at Muslims and consumers, too.

Like any good teacher, he concluded his Christmas Day tweets with an educational note on physics.

Definitely a cool TIL to add to the list, though I’ve already found a slight fault with Tyson’s physics. If red is so much clearer in opaque conditions, then why can’t all the people he’s pissing off see through the red?
