Family Of The Year Award Goes To The People Who Fake-Kidnapped Their Own Son To Teach Him A Lesson

Children frustrate their parents so often, it’s surprising more of them don’t snap. Yet the the good ones are always there for their kids — even when the little brats are, well, little brats. So make sure to give your folks a great big hug the next time you see them. And when you do, thank them for not doing what the family of a 6-year-old Missouri boy did.

Rather than force-feeding the kid broccoli — a most heinous of crimes — they orchestrated a fake kidnapping with a few family friends. Why? To teach the boy a lesson about talking to strangers:

On Monday, Firoved allegedly kidnapped the child after he got off a school bus and said he would never “see his mommy again,” authorities said. Firoved also showed a handgun to the now-sobbing boy, then drove around in his truck, and finally tied him up and covered his face with a jacket when the child wouldn’t stop crying.

The blindfolded child was then taken to family’s home, put in the basement, and his aunt allegedly removed the child’s pants and told him he could be sold into “sex slavery,” the sheriff’s office said. The boy was eventually led upstairs and lectured about the dangers strangers could pose.

Family members told deputies Wednesday they only wanted to educate the boy, according to the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office said in a statement that the boy was “terrorized.” (Via The TODAY Show)

Um, what just happened? The family members and their accomplices protested their arrest because they were trying to teach the boy about the dangers of being “too nice.” Instead, they ruined the poor kid’s life and planted yet another seed in Dick Wolf’s head for a ripped-from-the-headlines episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
