J.K. Rowling Announced That There’s Going To Be An Original ‘Harry Potter’ Play

On the 18th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone being published in the United Kingdom, author/Westboro Baptist Church troll J.K. Rowling revealed that there will be an original Harry Potter play opening in London. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will premiere next year, and according to Rowling, “It will tell a new story, which is the result of a collaboration between writer Jack Thorne, director John Tiffany, and myself.”

Thorne previously wrote for Shameless and Skins, including one of that show’s best episodes, “Final Goodbyes.” Rowling went on to say that Cursed Child isn’t a prequel and she chose to not turn it into a novel because “I am confident that when audiences see the play they will agree that it was the only proper medium for the story.” Book your broomstick to London now.
