Donald Trump Promises Not To Be A Complete Monster During Tomorrow’s Debate

Depending on who you are, Donald Trump has provided a lot of entertainment, head-shaking or enthusiasm over the country’s direction due to his harsh comments toward undocumented immigrants, John McCain, Lindsey Graham and a ton of other people (raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by Donald Trump). Now, the most-popular Republican presidential candidate is claiming that he’ll be civil during tomorrow’s debate on Fox News.

As the LA Times reports, Trump went on Good Morning America to announce his nicer campaigning style:

“Certainly I don’t want to attack. If I’m attacked I have to, you know, do something back, but I’d like it to be very civil,” he said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Wednesday. “I don’t want to attack anybody, you know, maybe I’ll be attacked and maybe not. I’d rather just discuss the issues.”

He also told Fox News that he intends to go “right down the middle” and focus on the issues.

This is in contrast to what Trump was saying in July, when he stated that people don’t care if he’s civil or not, because they’ll vote for whoever is most competent. Now, with Trump as the Republican frontrunner, perhaps he’s actually thinking about how to win over those who are turned off by his words—such as the Latino and Democratic voters who hate him because of his views on undocumented immigrants—when it comes to general election time. He’s also heeding a warning from the Republican National Committee chairman, who called him to ask him to “tone it down.”

If Trump does tone down his rhetoric with that in mind, though, will those who have so far supported him change their loyalties? First, we’ll have to see if Trump is sincere or not about his debate demeanor. I, for one, can’t wait.
