A Man Named Jack Daniels Named His Son Jim Beam, And He’s Not Stopping There

Name origins are an interesting thing. For instance, I’m named after Jason Seaver, Alan Thicke’s character in Growing Pains. But while that’s a fun bit of trivia to share at dinner parties, I’ll never be able to walk around with the perpetual collar-pop-coolness that Jim Beam Leathers will have for the rest of his life thanks to his dad, Jack Daniels Leathers, who recently named his son after the popular brand of bourbon.

Thirty-one-year-old Jack Daniels Leathers of Gray says he and his 23-year-old wife, Lydia Leathers, chose the name well before their marriage.

He tells The Courier they talked about baby names on their first date, and thought Jim Beam would be a good idea.

Whoa, a first date baby name chat? Jack Daniels Leathers must be awfully smooth. He was also born to be a rule breaker, receiving his own neat name thanks to the cold hard rebellion of his parents, who wanted to piss off their parents.

Curious what the future holds for Jack Daniels and Lydia Leathers (who were actually married by a man named Johnny Walker)? Apparently they want to stock their family bar with a child named Evan Williams next. And while that’s nice, I really do think that Chivas Regal would be a better choice, don’t you? It’s just a bit bolder and more refined. But what do I know, I’m named after the 80’s third most affable TV dad*.

(*=No, I’m not.)
