One Man’s Extreme Pizza Addiction Ends Up Saving His Life

Everyone adores pizza, and anyone who claims otherwise is clearly trying to be a rebel. One Domino’s Pizza customer’s hardcore love for the cheesy pie ran deep. He was so fond of the chain that he ordered on an almost daily basis for seven years. Employees of the store near his Salem, Oregon home were so mutually fond of the fella that they noticed when he stopped calling. After eleven days without an order for pizza, sandwich, or wings, folks started to worry about Kirk Alexander.

Several drivers had become friendly with the man and knew he suffered from health problems. So, they tipped off the store’s manager, Sarah Fuller, who spoke with USA Today about checking into the situation, as “we knew instantly it wasn’t normal.” Many people would try to put the issue out of their mind at that point, but not this bunch. They phoned Alexander out of concern. When he didn’t answer, a driver swung by his fully-lit home, but a knock provided no response, and employees alerted emergency services.

From there, law enforcement heard Alexander calling for help, so they forced entry — finding him on the floor “in need of immediate medical attention” for unspecified reasons — and transported him to a hospital where he remains in stable condition. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department took to Facebook with a special thank you to employee Tracey Hamblen for calling authorities when Alexander fell off the Domino’s radar. Since this story’s happy ending, several Domino’s employees have visited the hospital, but there’s been no word on whether Alexander’s enjoyed his favorite food — pizza, obviously — yet.
