According to a new poll conducted by Public Policy Polling, Harambe the silverback gorilla (RIP) is polling at 5 percent in the 2016 presidential race. PPP’s new national poll, which was conducted after both party’s conventions, puts Harambe only one point behind Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and three points ahead of Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Hillary Clinton is leading the race with 46 percent to Trump’s 41 percent. Harambe was shot and killed this May after a young boy fell into his Cincinnati Zoo enclosure.

When asked, “If the candidates for President were Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump, and independent Harambe, who would you vote for?” Respondents said Clinton 48 percent of the time, Trump 43 percent, and Harambe 5 percent. When asked whether they had “a favorable or unfavorable opinion of Harambe,” 5 percent of respondents said favorable, 27 percent unfavorable, and 69 percent unsure.

As ABC 15 Arizona notes, “The poll question doesn’t explain [that Harambe is] not human. It only says Harambe would be running as an Independent against the Republican, Trump and Democrat, Clinton.”

PPP is well known for asking strange questions in their polls. This survey also asked, “Do you think Hillary Clinton has ties to Lucifer, or not?” (18 percent said yes), “Do you think Donald Trump can be trusted with classified information on national security issues, or not?” (51 percent said not), and “Would you support or oppose putting Hillary Clinton in prison?” (36 percent said support).
