Jerry Seinfeld’s Lemonade Stand Got Shut Down When A Neighbor Called The Cops

The strong arm of the law reached out and crushed the dreams of Jerry Seinfeld and his family in East Hampton, N.Y. last week after a neighbor called to complain about Seinfeld’s pop-up lemonade stand.

Seinfeld and his family were selling lemonade to raise money for his wife Jessica’s foundation, Baby Buggy, which provides clothes and other such baby supplies to families across the country.

Given the stature of the neighborhood — and considering that Seinfeld isn’t your everyday lemonade stand proprietor — the local police chief addressed the East Hampton Press on the matter:

East Hampton Village Police Chief Jerry Larsen said police received a complaint about illegally parked vehicles at the location of the lemonade stand. At the scene, an officer advised the Seinfeld family that village code does not permit lemonade stands on village property. The village prohibits all forms of peddling on its property.

The Seinfelds complied and order was finally restored to East Hampton, so feel free to unclutch your pearls.
