Security Camera Footage Of The Nepalese Earthquake Reveals Just How Violent It Was

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock all day, which probably isn’t the best idea given the subject, then you’ve undoubtedly heard about the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal. According to The New York Times, Nepalese officials put the death toll at around 1,157, though this number will surely climb as rescue efforts continue.

Most of the initial media coverage has included videos and photos from after the fact. However, bits and pieces of information are spilling all over the internet, like YouTuber Mridul Kabra‘s most recent upload:

This video was recorded by one of the security cameras at my cousin’s place in Nepal where an earthquake of magnitude 7.9 on Richter scale took place on 25th of April 2015.

It doesn’t look at all like what we’ve seen in the San Andreas footage teased so far, and that’s because it’s real. And here’s what makes it all the more scary — there isn’t any wind blowing those trees and potted plants around. That’s coming from the ground.
