What is art, really, when it comes down to it? Yes, obviously art is a creative expression of the artist’s imagination, but does “art” in itself need to be defined by some sort of tangible distinctions to be considered a true work?
I guess what I’m really trying to say here is, are these slices of bologna that these two toddler siblings affixed to the wall definitely… not art? And not just any kind of art, but edible art, kind of like those bouquets fashioned out of fruits cut up to look like flowers — only much more abstract, of course.
All I’m saying is that I hope this mom understands what a couple of little prodigies she’s got on her hands here. Next time if they decide to incorporate some ketchup into their craft, with any luck she won’t be able to get on the line with Christie’s fast enough.
