Violence Erupted During A Confederate Flag Protest Outside Of The South Carolina Statehouse

South Carolina isn’t expected to vote on whether or not to remove the Confederate flag from outside its statehouse until July 6, even though the state reportedly has the 2/3 support it needs to make it happen, and tensions are rising to dangerous levels in the meantime. On Monday evening, a brawl that erupted during a protest of the flag at the state’s capitol turned bloody, as protesters and supporters slugged it out with one another.

One such dirtstached supporter, Joe Lindler, who can be seen in the above video, said of the fight to CBS News: “The blood on my teeth, the blood on my hands is no comparison to the Southern blood that runs through my veins.” I’m guessing vascular studies are probably not his strong suit.
