‘Puppet Master’: ‘Transformers’ producers to breathe new life into horror series

The horror series Puppet Master is about to make a killing…a box office killing.

Di Bonaventura Pictures and Caliber Media announced that Blade and his crew of murderous marionettes will be making their way to the big screen. The movie will be written by S. Craig Zahler, who most recently wrote Bone Tomahawk with Kurt Russell. There is no director yet attached.

According to producers, the storyline for the film is, “A recently divorced young man who discovers a mint condition Blade doll in his deceased brother”s closet and plans to sell the toy at a convention in Oregon celebrating the 30th anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders.  All hell breaks loose at the Postville Lodge during the auction when a strange force animates all of the various puppets throughout the convention as they go on a bloody killing spree.”

The franchise, which began in 1989, is considered a cult classic (It”s puppets killing people. How could it not be?). Since the original came out, there have been nine sequels, with the tenth, Puppet Master: Axis Termination, set to begin production later this year.
