The trailer for Hungarian Oscar entry ‘White God’ has bite to go with its bark

It's probably safe to say that if Kornél Mundruczó's “White God” were a 2014 domestic release, it would be on my top 10 list (comin' at'cha Friday). It's that good, and totally caught me by surprise when I watched it on a whim a few months back. I'm hoping it shows up on the Academy's narrowed list of Best Foreign Language Film contenders, which should drop any day now (right?).

The film is nuts, and a major achievement. It's like “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” with dogs. REAL dogs. Indeed, it won the cheeky Palm Dog award at Cannes earlier this year, along with the Un Certain Regard prize.

Anyway, you can get a load of all of this yourself now as Magnolia Pictures has launched a domestic trailer for the film. Keep your eyes peeled on March 27 when it finally hits theaters. In the meantime, I'll have my fingers crossed that it will get to keep on representing Hungary all the way up until the Oscars.
