To promote the film Anyone Can Play Guitar the folks behind the Oxford music scene documentary have released the above photo of Thom Yorke, Phil Selway, Ed O’Brien, and Colin Greenwood during their first recording when they were known as “On a Friday.” Jonny Greenwood had not yet joined up.
The big takeaway is of course that even Radiohead couldn’t outrun the ’80s. And that before Thom mastered spazzy dance moves he was busy conquering the art of hoverhand. Or something. I honestly have no idea what the hell they are doing. Fun photo of Scott Tenorman’s favorite band before they hit it big though.
