Gandalf And Dumbledore Got Married To Troll The Westboro Baptist Church

One of J.K. Rowling’s more memorable Twitter conversations happened last month, when the Harry Potter author supported Dumbledore and Gandalf getting married in Ireland. Of course those bigoted dullards in the Westboro Baptist Church vowed to protest such an union, to which Rowling responded, “Alas, the sheer awesomeness of such a union in such a place would blow your tiny bigoted minds out of your thick sloping skulls.” Get a load of this sheer awesomeness.

That would be “Gandalf” and “Dumbledore” getting hitched at the Equality House in Topeka, Kansas, located directly across the street from the WBC.

The venue was set up on the front lawn of the Equality House, with 52 black chairs forming an aisle leading up to a decorated podium. By the time the ceremony began shortly after 2 p.m., about 240 people were in attendance.

To music from the Harry Potter movie soundtrack, an actor dressed as Albus Dumbledore processed down the aisle and stood next to the podium. He was followed by actors playing Gandalf the White and Frodo Baggins — acting as the ring bearer — who made their way down the aisle to the tune of The Lord of the Rings music. (Via)

The identity of the actors wasn’t revealed because “the hope was for the focus to be on the message of the event and not specifically the people putting it on.”

I do have one question, though: is the marriage canon?
