A Lingerie Company Responded To A Body Shaming Hashtag By Asking Women To Grab Their Boobs

The newest asinine trend that’s taking the internet by storm is the #BellyButtonChallenge, in which the ability to touch your belly button by wrapping your arm around your back is supposed to be some bullcrap indicator of a healthy weight.

Here is what a successful #BellyButtonChallenge looks like:

Now, I’m by no means a large person but I tried this and I could barely get my hand halfway around my side. Hell, even at my absolute thinnest I still probably wouldn’t have come close, thanks to being short and not tremendously flexible.

Curvy Kate, a plus-size lingerie brand that makes bras size D and up, is calling out the #BellyButtonChallenge with a hashtag of their own, #BoobsOverBellyButtons. Curvy Kate’s challenge is much easier than the belly button challenge because all you need to participate is your hand and some boobs, as they write on the company’s blog:

“There are a heck of a lot more important things to be checking on your body than whether your arms are flexible enough to reach all the way around your own torso. So welcome the #BoobsOverBellyButtons movement! We want to encourage you guys to check your boobs and get to know what normal feels likeā€¦rather than doing these ridiculous body-shaming (and downright painful) demonstrations.”

Aside from the positive body image connotations, Curvy Kate is also an avid supporter of breast cancer awareness, so the exercise is beneficial in more ways than one. Here are some of their supporters putting their best breast forward on Twitter and Instagram:

And then there’s this guy who wanted to join in. I’m not sure I understand what he’s going for, but I like his moxie.
