A Mom Breastfed Both Her Child And A Friend’s Child, And The Internet Lost Its Mind

Jessica Anne Colletti hopped into the middle of “a milk storm” after revealing that she breastfeeds two toddlers at a time. No big deal if these kids are twins (or Irish twins), right? Well, there’s currently controversy swirling overhead because Colletti is a stay-at-home mom of only one toddler boy. She also babysits her friend’s toddler boy while mom is at work. Nothing out of the ordinary there, until Colletti posted a photo of herself breastfeeding both boys at once.

Trigger warning — here’s the photo that’s riling up the internet:

One would expect the Facebook comments from a parenting-geared page to be entirely receptive to the idea of wet-nursing a friend’s baby. Nope. Comments are flowing in from both directions:

Colleti maintains that there’s nothing but nature and love flowing through those boobs. The #MilkSiblings tag has been created, and Colletti says she isn’t afraid of the haters:

Breastfeeding my friend’s son came naturally to me. I started babysitting him when he was 5 months old and the first time she dropped him off to me I asked permission to nurse him, since I was already nursing my 3 month old. She responded with an enthusiastic yes, because he was having issues with the formula his previous sitter had been giving him. My friend struggled with breastfeeding in the beginning and succeeded for 9 months. She was always very happy that her son had the nutrition and comfort he needed while she was working. Being able to breastfeed her little boy has created a special bond between us all, a bond I will always cherish.

Good luck to Colletti in dealing with the anti-breastfeeding brigade. As many have pointed out, humans regularly drink milk from other species. A little added immunity (in the form of a wet nurse) for a toddler won’t hurt anyone.
