If you’re planning on heading over to Banksy’s new magical theme park, Dismaland, you might want to hold off for a bit. Or you might want to rush, all depending on what you want to believe about the experience.
Dismaland opened to a plague of issues, none of which includes flowing rivers of blood or locusts, sadly. Instead folks had trouble purchasing tickets to the park, ended up lining up to enter the park, and had an overall miserable time. So things are off to a perfect start according to the BBC:
A thousand people received free tickets, but as the remaining tickets went on general sale, the website crashed.
Banksy’s spokeswoman said the site had received more than six million hits by Friday.
A message on the site said “due to unprecedented demand” it is currently unable to process online ticket sales, and Saturday and Sunday tickets will only be available on the door.
Fans have been questioning whether their frustration in failing to buy tickets is in fact part of the ‘Dismaland experience’.
People camped out to try to get in to see the work of some 50 artists who took part in the project. Others took to Twitter to point out the obvious irony of it all and to question if it is all planned or an actual issue with the parks opening.
Oh dear, the public are now queuing to get into #Dismaland. Such irony. I really don't think that's the point.

Just love the irony that the website to buy #Dismaland tickets keeps crashing… Good work Banksy ;-)

It is pretty difficult to actually get a functional theme park off the ground, even if it is just a large art exhibit. If it is just part of the experience, the spokesman noted that Tuesday might end up being a better day for all involved.
While being there is surely an experience, especially once the real entertainment begins with Run The Jewels and other acts stopping by on Friday nights, you can enjoy some of the park attractions in the comfort of your own home. And no, I don’t mean by purchasing them at an auction for millions of dollars once this thing is all over. Head over to the official Dismaland Instagram page and you can peruse the exhibits you might be able to see in person, if you line up early enough.
