Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain doesn’t come out until next week, but the game is already amassing an impressive collection of “first true classic of this generation” kind of reviews. You probably don’t need any help getting hyped about the game at this point, but just to get you truly frothing, here’s one final Hideo Kojima-directed Metal Gear Solid V trailer. Unless something changes, this could be the last Metal Gear-related thing Kojima ever directs.
Appropriately, this trailer feels very much like a goodbye to Metal Gear Solid. It takes us through every game in the series, showing how Snake and his world have changed an evolved, finally culminating in the reveal of the series’ biggest, baddest giant mech yet, Metal Gear Sahelanthropus. A warning, though, the final half of the trailer with the new metal gear is a bit spoiler-ish, so you might want to skip it if you want to stay pure.
Well, if Metal Gear Solid‘s time is indeed up, it certainly looks like the series is going out on a high note. So, anybody planning to re-live some classic Metal Gear Solid memories by busting out the old games while waiting for MGSV? Which was your favorite game in the series? Wipe away those nostalgic tears and let’s talk.
