The Internet Confesses What Brings Out The Inner Rage-Filled Monsters, So Watch Out

On the Internet, people take great pleasure in complaining about the tiniest things. From venom directed towards customer service agents to those hurt and angry over a cheating spouse, people also get riled up about legitimate observances and reactions. After all, rampant bodily functions are fun to discuss, but so is pure, unadulterated rage.

Sometimes, though, people realize their anger is unfounded, and they simply cannot help seeing red. Over at Reddit, users gathered to discuss a rage-filled topic — “What is something that genuinely bothers you, but you never complain about because you’d seem like an asshole?” — that stokes their fires in a bad way. You’ll probably identify with at least a few of these selections, so let’s do this:

To get things rolling, Beve21 takes on the Tom Cruise style of laughter:

“People who have a fake-ass laugh. Like, we all fake laughter in awkward conversation, but some people are really bad at it and when you work with them you want to be like, ‘Dude, work on your fake laugh because you do it all the time and yours is terrible.’ Obviously you can’t do that, though.”

Mapbc presents a valid safety concern and why this should stop now:

“People who have the right of way driving and wave you ahead of them. If you would just drive by the rules and conventions then it would be a safer smoother drive. Now the people behind you are breaking unnecessarily and unexpectedly. Your kindness while appreciated is really causing more harm than good. Thank…but just drive like you’re supposed to.”

Brezzle piggybacks on the last entry with an explanation of exactly why the “waving in traffic” behavior is so dangerous:

“It is UNSAFE. Holy sh*t, people around here stop short all the time to let others take left turns on multi-lane roads. Cars coming down the road cannot see the car pulling out, and the car pulling out can’t see around you. YOU ARE CREATING A DANGEROUS T-BONE SITUATION FOR NO REASON. JUST THINK!!!!”

TooFondly is not at all fond of lazy, ultra-permissive parenting in public:

“Poorly behaved children in public places whose parents aren’t even trying to discipline them. You aren’t just making my day worse, you are actively making society worse with your negligent parenting.”

Both ARRedditUser and Book_Girl team up to reveal bad phone behavior:

“When someone has the volume on their phone up and are constantly receiving notifications. Also when someone is constantly on their phone while we’re doing something … I get a great deal of pleasure telling people to turn those off or to reduce the volume while in the library. If I get a dirty look or some remark about how it isn’t loud / they need to hear it / etc. I tell them it’s a library, I’m the librarian, and they can take their loud phone outside. It’s the closest I get to shushing people just because I can.”

Here’s an excellent example from SoftLove of simple and joyless annoyances:

“People interrupting me with no awareness of it.”

The anger Queen_LaQueefah expresses involves a kid who couldn’t select his parents:

“My brother in law and sister in law have a 5 year old kid and the foods they give him are disgusting. It’s all microwavable meals served with a glass of pop and they give him tons of candy and let him eat what he wants when he wants. The doctors told them that he’s a serious risk for becoming morbidly obese and they brushed it off as the doctor not realizing he was about to hit a growth spurt. And the worst thing about this is this kids LOVES vegetables. The parents are just too lazy to buy and prep veggies.”

Misophonia may be at work with Omega-Moose‘s trigger sounds:

“I can often become very sensitive to certain noises. So people chewing or even breathing can irritate me. But you know I can’t just tell people to stop breathing.”

F*ckchoosingusername would like it if the financially reckless would shush:

“My friend and her fiance together make twice as much as me and my husband, but they’re always broke and deep in debt. They have an expensive apartment, go to professional sports games, take at least two vacations a year, and take a very expensive ferry trip to visit her family every month. The last time she complained about her finances, I gently pointed out that we can comfortably survive on half their income, and suggested she cut down on those things. She completely lost her sh*t.”

Stop telling LaterDude to smile already, or you’ll pay a hefty price:

“Sorry but all those reminders to ‘turn that frown upside down’ as a child turned me into a conscientious objector. I’ll try to grin & bear it as you ridicule my ‘death looks’ with your lovely sarcasm but no guarantees.”

An eldercare nurse, TylerBundy, is tired of seeing this problem:

“It bothers me that people keep severely brain damaged people alive in the nursing home I work at. Like, why? You’re paying thousands of dollars a month to keep someone in a near coma alive… For what? It’s cruel.”

Don’t waste WaitForIt28‘s time by being late and jacking the schedule:

“When people are late. It really, really grinds my gears when people turn up late to things, even if it’s like 10 minutes, but if I say anything I’ll look like an asshole. Which hey, I probably am.”

Fitzwilliam_Barkcy isn’t gonna take those annoying sounds of your keypad:

“When someone hasn’t turned off the horrendous keypad sounds on their phone! And they’re usually old and terrible at typing so you’re forced to endure all the painfully slow clicks, ugh I can only imagine the inane crap they must be writing.”

Umbrella_merc doesn’t mind smokers, only the ones who are extremely lazy:

“When I see people throw cigarette butts on the ground right next to an ash tray, seriously it’s RIGHT THERE!”
