The ‘Affluenza’ Kid, Ethan Couch, Is Reportedly On The Lam

The saga of Ethan Couch, the teen who killed four people drunk driving, but got off with barely a slap on the wrists thanks to his legal team’s “Affluenza” defense, has taken another turn. Back in 2013, lawyers argued that Couch suffered from the made up condition caused by his parents never setting limits for the boy and giving him whatever he wanted. As a result, Couch avoided up to 20 years of jail time and instead received 10 years of probation.

Now it’s two years later, and Couch has reportedly already violated the terms of his probation. Authorities have been ordered to arrest Couch on the spot due to the fact that his parole officer has not been able to reach the boy or his mother, whom he had been living with at the time, and it’s been speculated that the two may be on the run.

Attorneys for Ethan Couch, Regan Wynn and Scott Brown, released the following statement regarding their client:

“We have recently learned for last several days the juvenile probation officer has been unable to make contact with Ethan or his mother, with whom he’s been residing. It’s our understanding that the court has issued a directive to apprehend to have Ethan detained (sic) because he is out of contact with his probation officer. We do not have any further information concerning this situation. It would not be appropriate for us to publicly discuss this matter further at this time.”

One possible explanation for Couch’s disappearance may have something to do with this six-second video that was posted to Twitter earlier this month, which allegedly features Couch violating his probation during a game of beer pong. If the boy’s mother suspected that her son was about to be hauled off to jail again, I suppose it’s possible she may be attempting to flee with him. Only time will tell.
