Universal is assembling a pretty solid cast for Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall, and now they’re trying to land another big name: Jim Carrey. Deadline reports he’s being courted to play The Colonel (AKA Colonel Stars). The character is an ex-mafia born-again Christian who co-founded (with Lieutenant Stripes) the superhero group Justice Forever. It’s a relatively small (as in hopefully not too expensive) role which would actually fit Jim Carrey pretty well. Also, since Nic Cage is returning for the sequel, I desperately want to see Carrey and Cage have an emoting contest.
Carrey is reportedly a fan of the first movie, an assumption based on him wearing a Kick-Ass costume while performing Five For Fighting’s “Superman (Its Not Easy)” with Conan O-Brien on the latter’s Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television Tour. We have a video of that, you know, for posterity.
Now just imagine that with Nic Cage in the Superman suit. Make it happen, Universal.
