Donald Trump’s Chicago Rally Has Been Cancelled Due To Conflict Between Supporters And Protestors

Donald Trump was scheduled to speak at a Chicago rally on Friday, but pulled out at the last minute in the wake of protests that lead to physical clashes between protestors and Trump supporters. While it was supposed to occur at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion, crowds of thousands gathered inside the arena and outside of it, with many physical altercations taking place.

Trump’s team posted on the campaign website the following justification for postponement:

Mr. Trump just arrived in Chicago and after meeting with law enforcement has determined that for the safety of all of the tens of thousands of people that have gathered in and around the arena, tonight’s rally will be postponed to another date.

Thank you very much for your attendance and please go in peace.

Anti-Trump protestors were out in full force, making their displeasure heard over Trump’s various policies. However, in the wake of such opposition, Trump remained unfazed about his chances. While speaking to MSNBC later that night, Trumped seemed confident that this would drive people to vote for him in the polls instead of having the opposite effect. He later told Greta Van Sustren on Fox News that “I don’t want to see people get hurt – any people, on either side.”

However, Chicago wasn’t the only location that was faced with conflict over Trump. Earlier this afternoon, protestors were forcibly removed from his St. Louis rally, with 32 people arrested.
