If there is one thing that Nintendo does insanely well it is to tug at the heartstrings of gamers everywhere with nostalgia. In fact, it’s easy for them considering they have so many beloved franchises in their back pocket. Think Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers and yes, even Star Fox. When Nintendo talks about any of the above people listen and money is set aside. The April 22 release of Star Fox Zero has fans excited and Nintendo has done something a bit different with this latest trailer.
Well, by different I mean that they did a bit of a throwback, but it wouldn’t be Nintendo if they didn’t, right? The new Star Fox puppets made their debut last summer when Star Fox Zero was announced, but they weren’t to be forgotten. This new trailer highlights game play from the upcoming Wii U title as well as shows some banter between Fox McCloud, Peppy and Falco.
As Destructoid points out, this isn’t the first time that Nintendo has featured puppets to promote Star Fox. In fact, the original Star Fox on SNES had a cast of puppets that were used for promo shots and even the game cover. These new puppets are definitely a step up over the old, creepy ones, that’s for sure. Star Fox Zero debuts on April 22 on the Wii U.
