If you weren’t aware, parts of Texas are currently experiencing record, end-of-times flooding, thanks to a low pressure system that has been stalling over the western part of the United States, dropping as much as 16 inches of rain around parts of the Houston area.
As a result, many residents are unprepared to deal with the unprecedented rainfall (which is expected to continue through Tuesday), as you can see in this harrowing video that was captured by a live news crew who happened to be nearby surveying the aftermath of the last rainfall when an older gentleman drove his Honda straight into deep flood waters.
“Why are you doing that? Why are you doing that?” the reporter can be heard yelling exasperatedly off camera, as the car is immediately overcome and starts floating about in the water. Even as it becomes apparent that — oh crap! — the man’s car is actually sinking, he seems reluctant to leave, as the crew shouts at him to swim. The man finally complies, just moments before his entire car is sucked under.
It’s safe to say the man’s car is likely done for, but on the plus side, he didn’t drown to death! Stay safe out there, Houstonians.
