Megan Fox Will Be Returning To ‘New Girl,’ And Not Just For A One-Off Episode

Season four of New Girl found the show in a bit of a creative slump. The previously magical chemistry between Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) proved to be all in the pining, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) was an unlikable monster, and they still had no idea what to do with Winston (Lamorne Morris) or Cece (Hannah Simone). However, season five saw the show turn around. Zooey Deschanel took a well-deserved break from the show to have her baby, Schmidt and Cece planned a wedding, and they finally gave Winston a coherent storyline. At the center of all of the good stuff, surprisingly, was Megan Fox. When Fox signed on for a guest arc, there were certainly skeptics, but her character, Reagan, really added some much needed spark into the loft (I know. I was surprised, too.)

Well, it looks like showrunner Elizabeth Meriwether agrees, because Megan Fox will be reprising her role for a midseason arc.  After kind of driving off into the sunset (or at least Louisiana) with Nick at the end of season five, it’s good to know that the relationship may be heading into something semi-stable. Either that or they’ll break up, he and Jess will start things up again, and Reagan will return to throw things into an awkward love triangle. Fox cannot return in the fall as she is currently expecting her third child with her husband, Brian Austin Green.

New Girl is back on Fox Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8:30/7:30c, so we’ll just have to wait until then to see how it all plays out.
