UFC Portland Results: John Lineker Barely Out-Points John Dodson In A Thrilling Fight

The second-ever Portland fight card is in the books, and it was a fun night of fights that for the most part, but they were inconsequential to the grand scheme of things. Will Lineker get a bantamweight title shot after missing weight again? What else mattered here?

—John Lineker def.John Dodson via split-decision. These two threw down like the blazing-fast punch-kickers they are. Lineker was absorbing head kicks like he had a 100% health meter, but as the fight went on Lineker would hurt Dodson with body blows and continue to throw more and walk him down. Of course, neither man would slow down, even after 25 minutes.

— Alex Oliveira def. Will Brooks via TKO (round 3). Will Brooks was in major pain after what looked like a nasty rib injury, which lead to the relatively easy TKO victory for Oliveira. This muddies the lightweight division, considering Oliveira missed weight.

—Zak Ottow def. Josh Burkman via split-decision. Our predictions were off. Way off. This is the night of the underdog, it seems.

—Brandon Moreno def. Louis Smolka via guillotine choke submission. WOW! Moreno comes in as an unknown, 5-1 underdog on a week’s notice and pulls off one of the most brilliant guillotines in recent memory. The 22-year-old will be living off this for a long, long time.

Prelims

—Luis Henrique da Silva def. Joachim Christensen via armbar submission (round 2).

—Andre Fili def. Hacran Dias via unanimous decision. This was a wild one:

—Shamil Abdurakhimov def. Walt Harris via split-decision.

—Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos def. Keita Nakamura via unanimous decision.

Fight Pass Prelims

—Nate Marquardt def. Tamdan McCrory via KO (round 2). Even though he’s 37-years-old, Nate The Great still has his knockout power. This was straight videogame-style:

—Ion Cutelaba def. Jonathan Wilson via unanimous decision. This was a tough fight that featured one of the nastiest low blows in recent memory, which you can *hear* here.

—Curtis Blaydes def. Cody East via TKO (round 2). Curtis Blaydes has the coolest name in MMA, it also looks like he landed about 10 illegal blows to get the stoppage win here.
