Sometimes a banana is just a banana and sometimes a lyric video is just a lyric video. Such is the case with Britney Spears” lyric video for “Ooh La La,” her song for “Smurfs 2.”
[More after the jump…]
In fact, it”s shocking, given that this is a superstar artist pairing with a major studio (Sony), how lackluster the lyric video is. In an age where so many lyric videos take the lyrics as a jumping off point to create something fun and imaginative, while not diluting the bang for the “real” video, it”s disappointing that this lyric video looks like it cost $5 and no real thought was put into it. Maybe they are saving it for the real video.
The video is below, but I”ll spare you the four minutes: It is, literally, the lyrics in Smurf blue on shifting panels, some with cartoon clouds and stars and moon, one with an exploding star, and another with some confetti popping out of a letter O, and some changing colors on the lyrics. There are two panels with the image of Smurfette and in the middle, during the automated part, the lyrics play over brightly-colored squares. That is it. No image of Spears and no other tie-ins with the movie other than an announcement that it opens July 31.
