It's like May in March, because NBC has gotten out ahead of the usual development curve with a series order for an untitled comedy from “Neighbors” co-star Jerrod Carmichael, executive produced by “Neighbors” director Nick Stoller.
Set up at Universal Television, it's a six-episode order for the sitcom, which is based on Carmichael's relationship with his contrarian father (David Alan Grier), his Jesus-loving mother (Loretta Devine), his hustler brother (Lil Rel Howery) and his therapist-in-training girlfriend (Amber Stevens West).
“We”re excited to be going forward to series with Jerrod. We can”t wait to see how he and his outstanding cast deliver the funny,” blurbs NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke.
Stay tuned, of course, for many, many many more series orders as we get closer to the actual upfronts season in May.
