Fast National ratings for Monday, March 23, 2015.
Monday nights have already settled into their regular routine. “Dancing with the Stars” and ABC continued to dominate Monday overall, while “The Voice” and NBC remain unstoppable in the key demo, just as it was all fall.
CBS, meanwhile, tied for second in the key demo and finished third overall, but also featured Monday's top scripted program in most measures with “Scorpion.”
Finally, a two-hour block of “The Following” got a tiny uptick among young viewers for FOX.
Let's get to the numbers…
Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 2.7 rating for Monday night, easily beating ABC and CBS' 1.8 rating in the key demographic. FOX was fourth with a 1.2 key demo rating, followed by the 0.3 key demo rating for The CW's repeats.
Overall, though, ABC averaged an estimated 11.86 million viewers and a 7.6 rating/12 share for Monday night. NBC was second with 9.85 million viewers and a 6.0/10, topping the 8.8 million viewers and 5.5/9 for CBS on the night. There was a big drop to FOX's 3.8 million viewers and 2.3/4 and then to the 885,000 viewers and 0.6/1 for The CW.
8 p.m. – The primetime split began in the 8 p.m. hour. ABC's “Dancing with the Stars” won overall with 13.42 million viewers and finished second with a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49, compared to the 11.32 million viewers and 3.0 key demo rating for NBC's “The Voice.” CBS was third with “2 Broke Girls” (7.33 million viewers and a 1.9 key demo) and “Mike & Molly” (7.8 million and a 1.8 key demo), which were both down from recent originals. A special 8 p.m. airing of “The Following” averaged 3.89 million viewers and a 1.2 key demo rating for FOX. The CW's “Originals” averaged 954,000 viewers and a 0.3 key demo rating.
9 p.m. – “Dancing with the Stars” rose to 13.94 million viewers and a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49 for ABC in the 9 p.m. hour, again splitting with the 12.44 million viewers and 3.6 key demo rating for NBC's “The Voice.” CBS' “Scorpion” was third with 9.57 million viewers and a 2.0 key demo rating. FOX's “The Following” averaged 3.715 million viewers and a 1.2 key demo rating, well in front of the 815,000 viewers and 0.3 key demo rating for The CW's “Jane the Virgin” repeat.
10 p.m. – CBS moved into first place in the 10 p.m. hour with 9.25 million viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49 for “NCIS: Los Angeles.” ABC's “Castle” was second with 8.21 million viewers and third with a 1.4 key demo rating. NBC's “The Night Shift” tied for first in the key demo with a 1.6 rating and finished third overall with 5.78 million viewers.
