Upfronts Week may be the culmination of development season and it may come at the climax of the official network TV season, but it's only the start of lengthy process of tweaking that takes place leading up to the start of the fall season in September.
We've already had a couple weeks of preliminary recasting — so far we've mostly learned the actors departing new shows, but we have yet to get their replacements — and now it's time to get down to the business of schedule shuffling.
ABC confirms news that was actually announced on the sly on the network's official website that the FBI drama “Quantico” is shifting from Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. to Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
“Quantico,” which stars Bollywood sensation Priyanka Chopra, takes the place of the Biblical drama “Of Kings and Prophets,” which is now being held for midseason. The Josh Safran-created series will air after another one of ABC's little tweaks, the drama “Blood & Oil,” formerly just “Oil.”
As of now, ABC has yet to announce plans for the troubled Tuesday 10 p.m. slot, though far be it for me to suggest that 13 episodes of the cancelled “Forever” would have looked really stable here for the fall.
This would create minor shifts in my DVR Gridlock series for Tuesday and Sunday nights, though both “Quantico” and “Of Kinds and Prophets” were in my “give 'em a few episodes to develop” category and neither figured to be a major factor in the ratings races for those nights.
