It's not Sam Smith's fault that the success of Adele's “Skyfall” obligates him to create a drippy, mournful theme for the new Bond movie “Spectre.” But does the new video for “Writing's on the Wall” conjure more excitement than the song? Here's hoping.

It's very hard to make a successful Bond theme that isn't pumping with adrenaline. I'm not sure I've seen it done yet. Did I mention I found the Oscar win for “Skyfall” baffling? Because I did.
