It's no secret that I'm pretty much dying to see The Huntsman: Winter's War. The new trailer is a perfect example of how the marketing team is figuring out exactly what people want from this movie and handing it to them on a silver (or gold, in this case) platter.
Charlize Theron's wonderfully scenery-chewing performance in Snow White and the Huntsman and Chris Hemsworth's slightly tongue-in-cheek take on the titular hero are both back on full display once again –– and when you add the utter flawlessness of Emily Blunt and the “she's doing an action movie?” surprise of Chastain, how can you not want to see this movie.
I'd also like to personally thank the music supervisor behind the choice of “Castle” by Halsey because it's the perfect song choice.
Sometimes a movie knows exactly what it is and leans into it instead of trying to market itself as something else to get butts in seats. In the case of The Huntsman, my butt will be firmly planted for a little cheese, a lot of glorious overacting, some gorgeously over-the-top effects, enough gorgeous gowns to drown in, and a 3-to-1 ratio of women to men where everyone kicks some serious ass.
The Huntsmen: Winter's War arrives in theaters on April 22, 2016.
