Since the dawn of cinema, there have been films that critics loathed but audiences loved. Perhaps no franchise better encompasses this dichotomy than Michael Bay”s Transformers. Though each progressive sequel has had diminishing returns in audience satisfaction, 51% approval (and a global box office of $1 billion USD means more sequels.
But this time, with dragons? According to the first poster of Transformers: The Last Knight, yep. Dragons.

Obviously, this isn”t the first time dragons have appeared in Transformers lore. They first appeared way back in 1985 when the Autobots and Decepticons time-traveled to the 6th century A.D. in ‘A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur”s Court”.* Later in the franchise, many Transformers would have dragon forms, most memorably Megatron”s form in Beast Wars. So there is precedent for mythical creatures to appear in The Last Knight if giant dragons larger than skyscrapers were going to be your line in the sand.
*If the next Transformers sequel isn”t a time-traveling romp, I will be highly disappointed.
Transformers: The Last Knight arrives in theaters in 2017.
