Fresh off the premiere of Loving at the Toronto International Film Festival, director Jeff Nichols is about to tackle a completely different type of project. And this one is out of this world.
Deadline is reporting that Nichols has signed on to go behind the camera for the reboot of Alien Nation, the buddy cop movie about an alien and an earthling. The 1988 film starred James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. It went on to gross an unadjusted $32 million worldwide and spawned a TV series that ran for one season.
Aboard to write the Alien Nation script are Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. The two wrote Iron Man and the upcoming Transformers: The Last Knight.
The release date for Alien Nation has not yet been announced.
