In an interview with Maria Menounos (video below), Vin Diesel spoke about playing Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, and, more importantly, he revealed something new about his meeting with Marvel.
When I met with Marvel it wasn’t for anything immediate, it was to talk about a film that would be introduced in the Phase 3 part of Marvel, not for a few years. […] A great meeting. It was even talking about something so big I can’t even talk about because it’s like the merging of brands in a way, which I won’t get into. That was something way, way, way, way, way down the road. He went on to say that, even though he’s playing Groot, he and Marvel are still “working on something for 2016”. A merging of brands in 2016? No idea what that means, but we hope he’s playing Captain Britain and Howard the Duck in a merging of two brands nobody needed.
