Watch: Missy Elliott drops in on J. Cole in new ‘Nobody’s Perfect’ video

After appearing on a handful of remixes and producing other artists, hip hop icon Missy Elliott is finally returning to the music world that has missed her so greatly over the last few years.

Her most recent appearance finds her teaming with Grammy nominee and Jay-Z associate J. Cole for the brand new video for “Nobody’s Perfect,” the latest single from his debut album “Cole World.”

Her duties in the song include rapping one verse and singing the tune’s repeated, Prince-like hook, while Cole takes on the bulk of the rapping. The video finds them apart from one another for most of the running time, with Elliott sometimes acting as Cole’s muse and, later, therapist (he also visits confession — does Cole need to talk to someone?) as he pines for a girl.

For a video co-starring Missy Elliott, the proceedings are strangely normal, indicating that she may have mellowed out since her hyperactive, day-glo days of crazy videos (and songs) “Supa Dupa Fly,” “Get Ur Freak On” and “Lose Control.” However, this is Cole’s video after all, and likely isn’t representative of whatever stylistic tone Elliott is cooking up for her long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s “The Cookbook.”

What do you think of the video?
