KIKO. ALONSO.
SO CLUTCH.60-yard PICK-6! #MIAvsSD https://t.co/txUlwzxUFk

You’ll never believe this, but the San Diego Chargers lost a game in heartbreaking fashion. The team was tied with Miami, 24-24, and had a little more than a minute to get into field goal range. The good news was the ball was on the Dolphins’ 42, so the Chargers just had to pick up a few more yards to potentially pull ahead.
The bad news, though, was that the opportunity for a go-ahead field goal never came. Philip Rivers dropped back to throw and thought he had Tyrell Williams to his left. Instead, Kiko Alonso jumped the route, picked Rivers off, and took off down the field.
Alonso almost went 60 yards untouched, but even though he eventually got chased down, it didn’t matter because he made it into the end zone. This was the cherry on top of a horrific fourth quarter for Rivers, who threw four interceptions in the game’s final quarter.
Philip Rivers is the 3rd player this season to throw 4 interceptions in the 4th quarter (Carson Palmer vs Bills; Ryan Fitzpatrick vs Chiefs)

Miami scored 10 points in the game’s final 3:01 to get the win, so they deserve credit, but the Chargers have been good at losing heartbreakers this season. With the loss, San Diego is now 4-6 and will need a ton of help to make it to the postseason, especially in the ultra-competitive AFC West.
